A New Home for Music in Winter Harbor

The Former Baptist Church Becomes the Winter Harbor Music Center

Winter Harbor has always been a place where art, community, and history intersect. Today, we are thrilled to share a transformational new chapter: the historic Winter Harbor Baptist Church will be donated to the Winter Harbor Music Festival. This generous gift provides the Festival with its first permanent home—a space dedicated entirely to music-making, learning, and community engagement.

Renovation Progress

Thanks to the generous support of the Townsend family, the Music Center has undergone major upgrades over the last six months, including:

• A new raised-seam metal roof
• Propane HVAC for year-round use
• Two ADA-accessible bathrooms
• Two individual practice rooms
• One orchestral rehearsal room
• Costume and production storage
• A warming kitchen

These improvements have already transformed the building into a functional artistic space.

But there is still important work to be done.

To complete the Music Center, we are seeking community support for the final phase of work:

• Front lobby renovation
• Fire-safety sprinkler system
• Additional fire escape
• Exterior lighting
• Landscaping and grounds improvements
