More About Our Participants...
Sasha Beresovsky
Sasha Beresovsky is a graduate of Indiana University, where he received his master’s degree and performance diploma studying with Edmund Battersby. He has appeared regularly at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria as part of the Summer
Chamber Music Series of WMPA, presenting Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations in 2015. Other performances have included solo recitals at the Victor Kosenko Museum in Kyiv (2017–2019) the Rhodes Scholar House in Oxford, UK (2018).
Lou Denaro
Louis Denaro is a man who will always listen to reason, a modest man who only refused an accommodation for only one single time, and for what? As a reasonable man, he's willing to do whatever's necessary to find a peaceful solution to everyone's problems. But he’s also a superstitious man, and if some unlucky accident should befall one of his horns, if a bell got dented or a slide got bent in transit, or his mouthpiece got struck by a bolt of lightning, then he’s going to blame some of the people at the post office, and then he will not forgive. He also enjoys quality seafood, especially when it’s reasonably priced.
Jeremy Hines
Jeremy Hines has studied music since childhood, including saxophone, bassoon, and piano. Before a 20-year hiatus, he perfomed in solo recitals, large ensembles, and a woodwind quintet. An ad technology account executive by day, by night, Jeremy entertains a captive audience - his friends and neighbors - with delightful piano performances ranging from Bach to Bartok. He attends any performances time will allow and gravitates to chamber music.
Corby Johnson
Corby earned a BA in Russian Studies from Lawrence University and MA in International Affairs from The New School. Currently, she lives in Washington DC, where she works as an Assistant Program Officer covering Central Asia at the National Endowment for Democracy. She studies viola with Nicholas Pappone.
Braden McConnell
Braden McConnell is a cellist in Montreal. He studied with Amir Eldan at the Oberlin Conservatory, Susan Moses at the Indiana University String Academy, and Richard Aaron at the University of Michigan before attending McGill University to study with Brian Manker. Braden earned first prize at the David Popper International Cello Competition in Várpalota, Hungary. He has also won first prizes in the McGill Concerto Competition, the Sigma Alpha Iota Competition and the Cleveland Cello Society Competition. A National Merit Scholar, Braden received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, triple-majoring in Cello, Mathematics, and Economics and a Master of Music from McGill University
Lilith Richter-Stephenson
Lilith Richter-Stephenson is a violinist living in Montreal, Quebec. She holds a degree in music from McGill University. Her teachers include Violaine Melancon, Mark Fewer, Philippe Djokic, and Celeste Jankowski. She has experience in orchestras and chamber groups throughout Canada. Lilith is a scholarship recipient of the Nova Scotia Talent Trust and is incredibly grateful for all the support she has received from this organization.
Mike Waldman
Mike Waldman was born in Brazil where he studied the piano with Eudoxia de Barros. In the 2010s he joined the Fort Washington Community Choir, moving on to the Stonewall Chorale for Fall 2022. In 2019, he started studying the piano with pianist Candace Chien, playing among others, Mendelssohn, Songs Without Words Op. 30 no. 1, Granados, Oriental and Schubert’s Moment musical Op. 94, No. 3. He is a Librarian and Associate Professor at Baruch College, CUNY. He lives in New York City with his two cats and enjoys taking long walks, in addition to reading, cooking and swimming.
