DUO MUNDI GEORGE & GULI captivates global audiences with their exciting, innovative, and diverse programming style. Lauded for their performances that “…breathe the same artistic air…with an adrenaline of communication that captivates audiences of every generation,” the duo creates beautifully synchronized performances that engage both the eye and ear in a dance of emotions. Their programming spans both the standard and contemporary repertoire, and they have commissioned exciting new works from national and international composers. Since their inception in 2022, DUO MUNDI G&G has performed standing-room-only concerts in venues across the globe. This summer alone, they embarked on an exhilarating tour through Mexico, China, Brazil, and Italy, where they were featured on Italian national TV, RAI2. They are set to continue this momentum with upcoming concert and masterclass engagements in Switzerland and Spain next year.
Their New York City debut at the prestigious Steinway Hall in April 2023 was a landmark event in their career, where they performed on Steinway Spirio | r concert grands. The duo continued to push boundaries with a groundbreaking Spiriocast that connected live audiences from Boston virtually to Philadelphia. DUO MUNDI G&G has become a fixture on the New York music scene, performing at premier venues like The Oculus at One World Trade Center, The Village Trip Festival, and Third Street Settlement Music School. On the West Coast, they left a lasting impression with their debut at Santa Barbara’s historic Lobero Theater and enthralled audiences in the greater Seattle area and Mexico’s Baja California. The duo’s extraordinary talents have also been showcased on radio broadcasts, most notably during a live interview and performance on All Classical Portland’s “Thursdays @ Three” in Oregon. This October, they are set to headline the Inaugural North Texas International Piano Symposium: Sounds of Latin America at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Beyond the concert stage, DUO MUNDI G&G are esteemed pedagogues and clinicians, boasting over 60 years of combined teaching experience. Their commitment to piano education is evident in their numerous workshops, masterclasses, and lectures. They recently completed the first of a series of Global Outreach Initiatives in Belize, Central America, where they inspired and engaged over 800 school children. The duo’s influence extends to universities, conservatories, and music organizations nationwide, with appearances at Harvard University, Ohio State University, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee - Knoxville, Colorado State University, and the University of Texas in Arlington as well as the Ann Arbor Area Piano Teachers Guild, Adult Music Society Forum in Washington D.C., Sonata Adult Piano Workshops in Bennington, Vermont, and the Music Teachers Association of California in Santa Barbara, among others. Their insights have enriched international conferences, including the European Piano Teachers Association International Conference in Portugal and the Southeast Asia Piano Teachers Symposium, along with national conferences and webinars of MTNA and NCKP in Chicago. This fall, DUO MUNDI G&G will break new ground as they organize and host a two-day Klavierfest on AI and its impact on music at Bowdoin College, Maine, featuring distinguished international guest speakers from Germany, Singapore, and Canada. As they continue to explore the frontiers of music, DUO MUNDI GEORGE & GULI are poised to leave an indelible mark on the world of classical music.
GEORGE LOPEZ is the Artist in Residence and Symphony Orchestra Artist Director and Conductor at Bowdoin College in Maine. Renowned for his “kaleidoscopic colors and clarity of conception” (Los Angeles Times), he is celebrated for his sophisticated and artfully curated interpretations. His debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam was described as “authentic and memorable” by the Nederlands Dagblad for his masterful performances of Bach’s Goldberg Variations and Chopin’s Preludes. Lopez’s extensive repertoire is both broad and deep, encompassing the complete sonatas of Mozart, piano concertos of Beethoven, all Etude-Tableaux of Rachmaninoff, all Etudes and Ballades of Chopin, and recently the entire four-volume set of Bach’s Klavierübungen, performed on organ, harpsichord, and piano. His performances have captivated audiences around the world, including Europe, Latin America, Asia, Australia, and throughout the United States, with appearances at esteemed venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Merkin Hall, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, and Ambassador Hall in Los Angeles. Lopez has been a featured artist at numerous international music festivals, including the Girona International Festival of Music in Spain, the Kowmung Festival in Sydney, Australia, the Festivale d’Internazionale Solisti e Musica da Camera in Umbria, Italy, and the Latin American music festival Cubadisco in Havana, Cuba. As a guest soloist, he has performed with the National Symphony of São Paolo in Brazil, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, and in distinguished halls like Salle Cortot in Paris, Rose Hall in Osaka, and Asahi Hall in Tokyo. In addition to his solo career, Lopez collaborates in recording and outreach projects with members of the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Boston Symphony, The Met Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and The New World Symphony. He holds the First Prize for the Diplome Superieure from the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris and the distinguished Uitvoerend Musicus degree from the Sweelinck Conservatorium in Amsterdam. As the artistic director and conductor of the Bowdoin College Symphony Orchestra, Lopez leads one of the most dynamic all-student symphonic programs in the New England region, fostering a vibrant musical community and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
GULIMINA MAHAMUTI is the first Uyghur from China to receive a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the United States, where she studied at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her early admission at age 15 as a gifted high school piano major to Northwest University for Nationalities in China marked the beginning of a distinguished career. Dr. Mahamuti holds two Master of Music degrees, one in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Harbin Normal University School of Music, and the other in Piano Performance from Pittsburg State University, where she graduated with the highest distinction, the Graduate Dean Academic Honors. Dr. Mahamuti’s journey as a concert pianist has been featured in various Chinese newspapers and television programs, culminating in a two-part documentary titled “Conversations with Dr. Gulimina Mahamuti” that aired on Karamay City’s Public Television Network. Her life story was the subject of a Chinese documentary on the Gansu Province Public Television Network. Dr. Mahamuti made her Carnegie Hall debut in New York City at Weill Recital Hall, and her international performances have taken her to prestigious venues in Montreal, Copenhagen, Istanbul, and Budapest (at the invitation of the Turkish Ambassador), as well as across the United States and China. As a soloist, she performed piano concerti with the Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra, the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Harbin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. Her music has also been featured on radio programs such as San Francisco’s classical music stations, Queens College/CUNY podcast, China Touch Radio, and Istanbul Technical University Radio. In addition to her performance career, Dr. Mahamuti is a dedicated educator currently teaching at Bowdoin College. She has previously held teaching positions at Ohio Wesleyan University, Capital University, and the School of Music of Northwest University for Nationalities in China. She published articles in Clavier Companion and released a CD titled Xinjiang Piano Music from Western China, highlighting her commitment to promoting diverse musical traditions. A two-term member of the MTNA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, Dr. Mahamuti organized the Pedagogy Saturday’s DEI Track at the 2024 National Conference in Atlanta. She recently accepted the nomination as the 2025-2027 Vice President of the MTNA Representation and Advocacy Committee, where she will continue to champion inclusive practices in music education and performance.

Luiz Gonçalves da Silva, Cello
Luiz Gonçalves da Silva began his music studies at the age of nine. Since then, he has performed nationally and internationally, participating in many music festivals and masterclasses in the United States, South America, and Europe. Luiz has studied at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he earned his Merit Certificate in Cello Performance. He currently studies at the University of Maine with Noreen Silver, where he is earning his Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in cello performance. At the University of Maine, Luiz has participated in many chamber music ensembles, including string quartets, piano trios, a variety of duos, musicals, and more.
Taylor Clark, Viola
Taylor Clark started her musical training at the age of seven when she began taking private violin lessons at RDL Strings in downtown Bangor, ME. She continued her studies through high school and into college, where she pursued her interests in fashion business, theatre, and music at the State University of New York at Oneonta. Taylor's musical journey continued with orchestra and pit band performances. She also studied music abroad while attending the University of Glasgow in Scotland for one semester. Taylor has participated in many smaller orchestras and ensemble groups since then, including the Augusta Symphony Orchestra and the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra.
After graduating college, Taylor transitioned into education and assumed the role of Director of Performing Arts at a prestigious private school, where she honed her leadership and organizational skills by teaching music theory and theatre studies. Taylor is also an entrepreneur, composer, and arranger, releasing her own music under the artist name “DARKT”.
William Somes, Violin
William Somes holds a bachelor’s degree with highest honors in political science and economics from the University of Maine, where he graduated in 2021. He continued his academic studies at George Washington University, where he obtained a graduate certificate in environmental resource policy. He moved back to his home state of Maine in 2022 and began working as a Partnerships Associate with Music Kids, where he helped bring lessons in violin, piano, and guitar to many public and private school systems across the country.
William began learning Suzuki violin at the age of seven and has studied under career performers and educators such as Anatole Wieck, Lynn Brubaker, Sascha Zaburdaeva-Lorimer, and Stewart Kitts. His professional experiences include masterclasses and coaching sessions with faculty at the University of Maine School of Performing Arts and string quartets like the Beo String Quartet. He regularly plays as concertmaster with local community ensembles including the Downeast Chamber Orchestra and the pit orchestra for the Gilbert and Sullivan Society. William has taught instrumental music in public and private schools in Washington, D.C. as a member of the Music Kids Teaching Faculty and has also managed a private studio at Music Junction in Alachua County, FL.
Jeffrey Swann, Piano Recital

Jeffrey Swann enjoys an international performing career which has taken him throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia. He won first prize in the Dino Ciani Competition sponsored by La Scala in Milan, a gold medal at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, and top honors at the Warsaw Chopin, Van Cliburn, Vianna da Motta and Montreal Competitions, as well as the Young Concert Artists auditions in New York City. His large and varied repertoire includes more than 60 concertos as well as solo works ranging from Bach to Boulez.
In addition to presenting lecture/recitals worldwide, Mr. Swann has performed with the symphonies of Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Indiana, Dallas, Saint Louis, Houston, Baltimore, San Antonio, New Jersey, Louisville, New Orleans, Honolulu and Minneapolis; and in Europe with the orchestras of Rotterdam, The Hague, Belgian National and Radio, Warsaw Philharmonic, La Scala, Santa Cecilia, RAI Turin and Rome, Czech Philharmonic, Radio France de Montpellier and the London Philharmonia, among many others. The conductors with whom he has performed include Zdenek Macal, David Robertson, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Marek Janowski, Kazimirz Kord, Myung-Whun Chung, Roberto Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti and Leonard Slatkin. In addition, he continues to lecture regularly at the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth, Germany, and at Wagner Societies in the United States and Italy. Mr. Swann has also served as a judge at many competitions, most recently the Premio Venezia in Venice, Italy.
A native of Northern Arizona, Jeffrey Swann studied with Alexander Uninsky at Southern Methodist University and with Beveridge Webster and Adele Marcus at The Juilliard School, where he received his B.M., M.M. and D.M.A. Degrees. Mr. Swann can be heard on Ars Polona, Deutsche-Gramophon, RCA-Italy, Replica, Fonit-Cetra, Music & Arts, and Agorá recordings. His CD, "The Virtuoso Liszt" (Music & Arts) won the Liszt Society's Grand Prix, and his first volume of the Complete Beethoven Sonatas (Agorá) was chosen one of the Best of the Year by Fanfare magazine. His most recent release features works for piano and orchestra by Chopin with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano. Since 2007, Jeffrey Swann has been the Music Director of the Dino Ciani Festival & Academy in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, since 2008 the Adel Artist-in-Residence at Northern Arizona University, and since 2013 the Artistic Director of the Scuola Normale Concert Series in Pisa, Italy. Other teaching experience includes the International Keyboard Institute at Mannes College of Music (2002-Present), Master Classes at Texas Christian University, University of Minnesota, Imola Academy (Italy), University of Virginia, San Diego State University, Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, University of Tennessee, Arizona Piano Teachers' Federation, University of Iowa, and Stanford University, as well as Piano Master Courses in Milan, Udine, La Spezia, and Weimar.
