Judy Gray has been teaching voice for 40 years. Formerly a member of the vocal faculty at the High School of Music & Art/LaGuardia High School where she taught Voice and Chorus. She has conducted choral such works as Mozart C Minor Mass, Mozart Requiem, Kodaly Te Deum, Bach Magnificat and the Gloria from the B Minor Mass, Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes. A jazz singer, Ms. Gray has worked with such jazz luminaries as Barry Harris, Jon Hendricks, Wynton Maralis, Larry Willis, and Marion Cowings, among others. She is the founder of the LaGuardia New Music Singers, a jazz vocal class. Her students include Miles Griffith, Caroline Leonhart, Jonathan Iverson, Isabel Leonard, Anthony Evans, Jason Lindner. In addition, she was co-teacher at Barry Harris’ Workshop and Chorus, Assistant Director at Opera of the Hamptons, Co-Founder and Music Director of Young Artists Repertory Theatre. She has directed both music theater and opera productions. She was also Assistant Principal of Creative and Performing Arts at Christopher Columbus High School. Currently Judy maintains an active vocal studio on the Upper West Side and sings with the Community Band at Romemu, a Jewish Renewal synagogue in New York City. She is also on the staff of Music On The Inside, an organization that brings music and music education to incarcerated youth. |
