Annabelle Han

Soprano  |  Queen of the Night

Annabelle Han, Korean-born soprano, has been hailed as a “bright talent,” and lauded by MetroLA as possessing a “voice and physical performance [that are] both spectacular.”
 
Ms. Han started her career and training in Seoul Korea, where she trained as a classical pianist. After moving to the United States, she has performed extensively on the West Coast, including a triumphant Olympia in Les Conte D’Hoffman with Repertory Opera Company, where “she struck the perfect balance between the hope that she might be capable of human emotion and the painfully hopeless reality.” (MetroLA)
 
Roles performed include Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Lauretta in Gianni Schichi, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (New York Lyric Opera), Micaela in Carmen (Opera Company of Brooklyn), Olympian in Les Conte D’Hoffman (Repertory Opera Company), Gilda in Rigoletto (Casa Italiana), and Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte (Celestial Opera Company). Partially performed roles include Musetta in La Bohème, Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, Ttania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, etc.
 
She was also featured with the Oltenia State Philharmonic Orchestra of Romania, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Tele Radio-Moldova in Seoul Korea. She has frequently appeared in gala performances including Emerging Artist Concert, Artist-in-Residence Concert, Mostly Mozart Concert, Classical Singer’s Annual Concert, etc. She served as a soloist in the church choirs at Young-Nak Presbyterian Church of Orange County in California, Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in New York, and SaRang Community Church in Seoul Korea. She is now serving as a Song Leader and Soloist at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City.
 
Ms. Han trained her voice with Janice McVeigh, voice faculty at University of Southern California and Brent McMunn, USC Opera Director. And then she went on to further training with a renowned voice teacher Nina Hinson. Due to the financial hardship, she graduated with honors from California State University, holding a Master of Music in Vocal Performance, where she was awarded numerous scholarships and prizes, including the Lu Elrod/Snyder Scholarship, Cal Grants, the Young-Nak Scholarship, and the 42nd and 43rd Special Recognition Award in Graduate Studies from The Honor’s Convocation.
 
After moving to New York City, Ms. Han developed her Fach from lyric coloratura to dramatic coloratura under the tutelage of Heidi Skok, Metropolitan Opera Singer, Keith Chambers, Director at New Amsterdam Opera, and Roger Malouf, Assistant Conductor at the Met. She has recently been selected as a recipient of the Grant Award from Anna Sosenko Assist Trust in NYC.
 
Ms. Han currently resides in New York City where she is holding her annual concert series called “Opera Night” in collaboration with Maestro Keith Chambers at W83 Ministry Center. Her recently added repertoires include Elettra in Idomeneo, the title role in Anna Bolena, Philine in Mignon, Fiakermilli in Arabella, and Madame Mao in Nixon in China.
